Over the past few weeks I went back through Jim Rohn’s Foundations for Success — 10 modules, 70+ audio sessions. Rather than leave my notes buried on a hard drive, I turned them into a mindmap to review and share here.
These are personal notes, summarised in my own words. If you find them useful, listen to the original — Jim Rohn’s storytelling is the best part.
The whole course as a mindmap

The backbone: five pieces of the life puzzle
- Philosophy — what we know and how we see life.
- Attitude — how we feel about what we know.
- Activity — turning knowing into doing.
- Results — in proportion to the effort.
- Lifestyle — doing ordinary things extraordinarily well.
Seven ideas I’m keeping
1. Success is attracted, not pursued. To have more, become more valuable — work harder on yourself than on your job.
2. You can’t change the wind, but you can set the sail. Same circumstances, different destinations. Stop blaming first.
3. Easy to do is also easy not to do. Failure is a few small errors repeated daily; success is a few simple disciplines repeated daily. Neglect spreads.
4. The seasons of life. Plant in spring, protect in summer, harvest in autumn, prepare in winter. You can’t change the seasons — only yourself.
5. The law of averages. Do enough and the ratios work. Like the sower: some seed hits rock, some gets eaten — keep sowing.
6. Lifelong self-education. Read daily, listen selectively, watch successful people, keep a journal. Three treasures to leave behind: journals, photos and a library.
7. Act while the idea is hot. Intentions cool fast. Learning that doesn’t lead to action is just more information.
How I’m applying it
- Weekly priority review: “If I could do better, should I?”
- Read 30 minutes a day and journal the ideas.
- Pick one neglected thing and fix it this week.
- Write this blog — a way of sharing back what I learn.
Have you listened to Jim Rohn? Which of his ideas stayed with you longest?
